I think the last drop of mud has been applied to the walls and my dad has deemed them level and smooth! It's been a couple weeks now that we have been mudding the kitchen, bathroom and basement and they are all done. I say "we" have been mudding, but really my dad has been the one applying and sanding, applying and sanding, etc. until they are perfect. It's so very nice to have family to help take care of things you have no idea how to do, especially knowing that if you did them yourself they wouldn't have turned out nearly as good. Now that the walls are ready to be painted we're getting the last of the cabinets and trim sanded so we can prime and paint everything at once. With my mother's interior design expertise we'

ve picked out a yellow for the kitchen and the cabinets will be white with a white tile back splash. The bathroom will be the same green it was and the basement will be part offwhite and part gray/green - adding a little colors to our lives as Blane always gives me a hard time for picking colors that are all within a very safe neutral palette. Also, this past weekend we put in our new counter tops in the kitchen. It was strange, but it was so exciting to see finishes going in it made me remember why we started this madness in the first place. Still thinking we might be done by Thanksgiving - 4 weeks to go.
