We're making progress
The kitchen is well under way and we have made some great progress, though we still have a lot to do.
Like with any remodel project once you dive in the list of things to do starts to build and build. We have finished all the demo, we ended up having to take out more walls than we expected due to the nasty glue residue from the copper tile backsplash. The good news is with the walls exposed it makes it easier to access old wiring and update with new - so we decided to update the wiring in the whole house while we're at it! This has been on the need to do list anyway so it will be great to get it taken care of now. Since it's not a quick job we have had the electricity off for a few key breakers which include our main floor overhead lights, so we've been functioning with headlamps and flashlights for the past couple days. I am excited to the electrical to be done by this weekend. Once we get the electrical completed we can put up the the new walls and get going on sanding the cabinets and
frames, installing the new floor and finishing our new pantry. I briefly started to sand the cabinet frames in the kitchen and it's quite amazing to see the vast array of colors that our kitchen was once painted, I saw turquoise, tangerine orange, banana yellow, pepto pink and boring old ivory. We purchased our flooring a week ago so now that it has come in it will make it easier to pick out our counter tops, tile and paint colors - hopefully we'll have all those ironed out by next week sometime. Slowly but surely we are checking things off the list. It will be tough but I hope we can finish this project by the end of the month.
