We are now in Monteverde, about 2.5hrs Northwest from San Jose, for two of our last three nights in CR. The past several days have continued to be thoroughly enjoyed. We have filled them all to the max with more surfing, lounging by our amazing pool, soaking up the 90+ degree sunny weather, sliding down a waterfall, trekking by horse to another waterfall for swimming and cliff jumping, buying fresh fish at a local stand to grill for dinner, fresh smoothies and fruit and many highly competitive games of cards. We left Dominical two days ago and drove inland back towards San Jose area through the pass de la muerta - it was a windy and steep drive. We stopped halfway in Santa Herardo de Dota for a night which took us up to 10,000+ feet of elevation. This was the first time we had to break out our pants and coats. We did a bit more hiking and all decided we were exhausted and just relaxed and watched the clouds roll in over the mountains - this area is also considered a cloud forest. This morning we hit the road around 8am and stopped in at Santa Maria de Dota for a coffee tour and to see the Terrazu coffee growing region. Pretty cool knowing this particular co op sells to Starbucks. We made it safe and sound to the airport area where we dropped Laura and Mark off for their last night before flying out tomorrow morning and we continued on to Monteverde, also a cloud forest. We didn't have any reservations for this last part of the trip so we booked a place on the way up - Trapp Family Lodge. It´s very comfy and close to the national park. We are headed out tomorrow for more hiking and looking for wild beasts. We´ll then soar through the canopy on a zipline tour, we´re still deciding on whether or not we want to do the tarzan swing - 100ft. drop and swing situation. Sounds like fun...we´ll see if we actually have the guts to do it. I spied a chocolate tour tonight and we might have to add that to our itinerary. It only seems right that we should give it our stamp of approval, so we can recommend it to future visitors, of course.
Adios
