Barcelona bound
We are just winding down our visit to Granada. We take the overnight train to Barcelona, or as the Spaniards say - Bar-thay-lone-a, tonight and arrive tomorrow morning for the last three nights of our trip. We have had a great past couple of days soaking up the sun, relaxing and seeing all the sights. After we arrived in Grenada around 8:30pm we found our hotel which is right in the middle of town and walked a couple blocks to this great tapas area. It´s two blocks of small cafes one right after another all with tables out in the alley way. We have had to get used to eating around 9pm as that is when dinner is around here but it´s nice because it´s much cooler. The next day, yesterday, we rented a car and set out to the Sierra Nevada Mountains about 35Km from Granada. They have several small towns up in the mountains that are all painted white and they call them Pueblos Blanco. We did a big loop and drove through probably 12-15 different towns. Blane was a great driver and got us to and from safe and sound, however the roads were crazy! Super narrow and there were mud slides all over the place (they probably happened a month or so ago when it was raining). I´m super sensitive and nervous about that kind of thing so finally i had to lay down in the car and close my eyes :) When we got home we had dinner in this cool plaza and they had this deal where you got 6 beers and 6 tapas for 12Euros...a pretty good deal. Then there were local entertainment in the square with Spanish guitar and flamenco - it was cool to experience like a local. Today we went to the big palace that´s in Granada and was built by the Moors in the 10th century, pretty impresive. The temp has reached 40 degrees celcius which i think is around 100 degrees - it´s HOT. We are looking forward to hitting the beaches in Barcelona and doing some more relaxing.
