Sayulita, MEX

We ventured outside the usual vacation destination this year and headed to Sayulita, Mexico. It's been almost 10yrs since we've been to Mexico. We've seen many other sights around the world as well as our fair share of visits to Hawaii.

It was fun trying something new, a little familiar yet adventurous. We'd received many high praises for Sayulita and we like the small town beach vibe so that was that. Little did we know that all of Mexico has time off during Holy Week and everyone converges onto the beaches. By Thursday it was packed with people. It was a very festive atmosphere with popup bars, food and games. While it's a religious holiday, they did most of their reflection through partying.

Bennett loved the beach, specifically the sand. The first day he kept sliding out onto his chest and making sand Angels.  It was quite funny. He also got more comfortable with the ocean, running into the water and jumping waves. He kept his aunty busy this trip wanting to do all activities with her. The beach was nice and sandy and pretty shallow for a ways out, so great for kids and playing around. We got big belly laughs when he boogie boarded with Blane. Every day we headed to the beach by 9am, claimed our spot and played until ~2pm. 'Hola donuts' was one of the many vendors that walked the beach -our favorite. Bennett's pick was a cake donut with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles - we got a donut everyday. Nothing like eating donuts in your bikini. After the beach we'd head back to our house that was a 5min walk from town, take a dip in the pool, get B down for a nap and then enjoy a quiet afternoon siesta. We ate out for dinner and lunch most days with almost all the food a hit (fish tacos were my favorite!), we only had one blah eating experience which was mainly due to how long it took. Lots of good food and restaurants to choose from. Another of my favorites - the churro man. I guess I've never had a good churro before, because these were mind blowing.

The town is very quaint and walkable. Little streetsAnother highlight for B was watching the horses go by from our palapa. 'Ma horsies' he would say. When we finally stopped to let him sit on one it was too scary. Next time. It was a great trip with adventure, relaxation, sun, food, family and water. We surfed, zip lined, played in the water, walked and ate and drank a ton. A good trip had by all!!
